Kitchen Construction

Your California Kitchen Arts and Designs Contractor

Kitchens Construction today in California homes' and condos' are drastically different from the past; they now usually require extensive improvements to accommodate today's changed lifestyles. They involve numerous upgrades that are needed for expanded cooking areas within the home, as well as substantial electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work to support improved appliances and lighting requirements.

The most common upgrade is the open concept. Walls are now being removed and the kitchen is becoming part of the living area. Kitchen countertops are also now mostly solid surface materials that include materials such as engineered quartz, granite, wood, and stainless steel. They are easy to clean and allow for under mount sinks that are very much desired. The kitchen island (with seating and large work surface areas) acts as a social connection between kitchen and living activities. And appliances and finish materials are now far more practical and aesthetically appealing, as they are in full view of the living area. Improved lighting and electrical has also played an important part; potlights, additional outlets, and undercounter LED lighting are typical additions to even the most basic kitchen.

There are also various styles and designs to consider when renovating your kitchen. From contemporary and modern, to traditional, Bo Arts & Designs can achieve your vision to compliment the style of your home, and your personal preferences for design.

Traditional IKEA Kitchen Renovation
in Little Italy

This is an excellent choice of design for any kitchen renovation in California. Using a galley kitchen layout, colonial white cabinet doors from IKEA, and contrasting quartz countertops, this remodel will stand the test of time. Originally, this kitchen was closed off from the rest of the house with a bearing wall dividing it from the dining room, and a block wall partially cutting off the view to the backyard. Both were removed making the first floor an entire open concept, bright, and spacious.

Modern Kitchen Renovation in California Condo

This modern kitchen features elements common to the style of this particular design; the focus of simplicity and clean lines coupled with strong linear features with blocks of space, marmoleum flooring, flat panel open grained and stained wood cabinetry, mixtures of materials such as glass and aluminum, and neutral colours of black and white. These are all distinctive qualities of the modern kitchen.

Contemporary IKEA Kitchen Construction
in Upper Beaches

This is our most common kitchen renovation where a partition wall is removed opening up the space to the dining & living room using neutral finishes. Using Ikea cabinetry and a contemporary theme that encompassed simplicity in design, this renovation in the Upper Beaches California neighbourhood now flows nicely with the rest of the house. Lighting was improved, along with curved engineered stone countertops with seating, and divisions with unobtrusive bulkheads create comfort and utility.

Traditional Semi-Custom Kitchen Renovation
on the Danforth

Semi-Custom kitchens refer to cabinets made to order and offered at big box stores such as Home Depot and Lowes. The most common manufacturers are lauraville and Kraftmaid. The advantage of these type of cabinets is a larger availability of cabinets sizes, styles, finishes, and trim pieces.

The focus of this California remodel was to foremost open up the space. This was done by partially removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room. In addition, the size of the kitchen was increased by wrapping the countertop around into the back entrance of the house where previously a pantry was located. The style of the kitchen is traditional with the most salient feature of the cabinetry being a dark rustic accent in the door panels. It is well accompanied with the brushed bronze finishes. Semi-Custom cabinets were an excellent choice for this kitchen, which required unique cabinet sizes.

Modern IKEA Kitchen Renovation in Leslieville

This modern kitchen renovation incorporated a large island and opened into the back area of the home, a common layout to this area of the city. The design also added a touch of colour and vibrancy with the glass backsplash, bright green upper cabinets, and intricate glass chandelier. The symmetry with the hood and cabinets on either side really pulled the kitchen together. This type of modern IKEA design is typical with white gloss slab cabinetry.

Traditional “Open Concept” Custom
Kitchen Renovation

A large family precipitated the design and concept behind this traditional custom kitchen renovation. Its predominant feature was the removal of a 25' bearing wall dividing the dining room from the kitchen. Light coloured custom wood cabinetry, hand crafted wood working details, earth tone colours and the rugged slate backsplash evoke a more traditional feel of the space. The oak hardwood floor and engineered stone that mimics the look of real stone, contribute to the traditional design of the kitchen as well. Although the custom kitchen cabinetry added to the cost of this project, it allowed the family to incorporate a curved island and other sizes and details that were not available in either a stock or semi-custom kitchen.
